No prior knowledge required
The sessions will be informal and yet centred on an appropriate topic and no prior knowledge will be required. There will be a wide variety of studies or activities and there will be something valuable to practice in each session. There may be guest speakers and some sessions will be spontaneous; they should all be engaging, awakening, practical and enjoyable. We will study, discuss or practice whatever inspires us in the moment as appropriate to those who attend. If requested we can also cover some of the fundamental topics which students may have missed in the early parts of the course.
Experimentation & Questions
There will be an element of experimentation and we will usually have a philosophical principle as a theme and we will keep it as practical as possible.
You may have questions of your own, or topics you would like to discuss, so bring them along and we would be happy to explore them with the group.
It will usually involve three elements:
1) Study of some aspect of philosophy from East or West appropriate to those who attend or in response to questions.
2) Practice a philosophical exercise and share our experiences
3) Enjoy tea and coffee and good company in the Hub Cafe.
It takes place during the Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays on Tuesdays 2.15-4.30pm at The Hampton Inspired Hub, 3 Ashley Rd, TW12 2JA. (Conference Room) and the next cafe will be around Easter on 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th April 2026.
- Contribution requested: £8 / session. [Every 4th session you attend will be half price].
- You can pay in advance to secure a place or pay on the door.
Students who have studied with us at any time in the past, who might like an opportunity to reconnect and join us even if only for one session, are also very welcome. Just email PeterR@fses.org if you are interested and we can send you details of our next event.
We will always endeavour to find fresh ways to energise and inspire the practical work of philosophy for all our students as well as those from all UK Branches of the School and everyone is welcome whether you study regularly with our school or not.
